
There are no direct descendants with the last name Wells.
Ida B. Wells married Ferdinand L. Barnett and hyphenated her name to Wells-Barnett. They had four children together - Charles, Herman, Ida Jr. and Alfreda, whose last names were Barnett. Charles' daughter married a man with the last name Cross. Alfreda married a man with the last name Duster. Between their children Ida and Ferdinand had a total of seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. There are now dozens of great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren with several different last names, none of them Wells.
The descendants of Ida B. Wells work in a variety of professions, including law, medicine, finance, ministry, science, technology, communications, education, and business. Family members live in numerous areas around the country. Although they are all proud of their ancestor and do what they can to promote her legacy, there are some members who have chosen to incorporate the work of Ida B. Wells into their professional pursuits.
