Ida B. Wells and her husband, Ferdinand L. Barnett had four children together - Charles, Herman, Ida Jr. and Alfreda. Between their children they had a total of seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. There are now dozens of great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren.
The descendants of Ida B. Wells work in a variety of professions, including law, medicine, finance, ministry, science, technology, communications, education, and business. Family members live in numerous areas around the country. Although they are all proud of their ancestor and do what they can to promote her legacy, there are some members who have chosen to incorporate the work of Ida B. Wells into their professional pursuits.
